Yes, broadband infrastructure is important to all Canadians, just like roads. I think urban customers should contribute to rural broadband in a way that reduces most of the price differential but maintains effeciency. Possibly regional co-ops could be responsible for outsourcing broadband services. At least one broadband provider seems to underfund broadband systems so they do not consistently provide the speed promised or trouble support required. In any operation, part of the budget should go to ensuring that plans and performance meet expectations. If telecoms do not do this, possibly a fraction of broadband revenues should go to checking up on the quality of broadband services by an independent group. We fund road traffic police, and I think it would be good to have regulatory policing in this area.
