If our economy is to thrive, not only in urban but also rural areas we need technology infrastructure that is a world leader. Data highways are equally important as vehicle highways. If rural areas are going to survive in this millennia we can no longer allow them to trail in accessibility to the internet. Government needs to identify that high speed and reliable internet in "all" areas of our country is an investment that will pay dividends as opportunities open in a global market. Why does the IBM analyst with a six figure job have to travel to downtown Toronto to complete his or her work. Give them the means to complete their work in a rural setting and let the IBM weekly payroll support the local rural economy.
