I live in the Ottawa valley only one hour from downtown Ottawa and our Internet choices are limited to satellite only. Limited cell phone service is only available after I paid for and installed a cell phone booster and antenna. The satellite Internet service is poor at best. It is very slow and drops out totally when the weather is bad. If you want to use the Internet from 6:30pm to 11:30pm good luck! In my opinion the satellite service were aggressively over sold and have too many users thus providing very poor service during the evenings. Streaming services like Netflix is some times impossible to watch. A one hour show could take up to 2 hours to complete with an extensive amount of buffering. I have listened to the constant talk of "better rural services" for years but we have never seen anything that could help us. We do have a land line phone service but the lines are so noisy DSL internet service won't work. Just to let you know how bad it is we can hear other people talking on their phone just by picking up our phone off the receiver. This is a whole new definition of "cross-talk". For those at the CRTC how would you like to be in my place?
