In the village of ****, New Brunswick, there is existing cable infrastructure, owned by Rogers Communications Inc., that could easily provide the last-mile for broadband access in the area. They've essentially abandoned it, providing only ~20 analogue channels, and not taking new subscribers.I'm sure that **** is not an isolated case, cable companies like Rogers deployed similar cable networks all across Canada in the late 1990's, many of which have probably suffered a similar fate. Why aren't we leverage this resource to provide rural communities with internet access?
