Northern communities in Canada are severely under served with regards to cellular networks. There is no excuse for cellphone providers to not provide access to networks to our remote regions -regardless of populations. In Canada we have the privilege to pay some of the highest charges for cell service with in return getting some of the poorest coverage. To put things in perspective: in the past year I ferried a helicopter from Nigeria to the UK, crossing a large portion of Africa and Western Sahara. During this trip we had cell coverage 95% of the time. Even in the desert. It makes no sense that the Canadian regulating body or government does not make it mandatory for providers to ensure coverage that at least equals a third world region.
