I am appalled at the pricing of telecommunication systems in Canada. I know we pay far more than most, and having lived outside of Canada periodically, I cannot believe how much we have to pay for what we receive. I am also very disappointed that the major players keep purchasing more and more bandwidth for cell phone systems in an effort to choke out competition. I believe it is high time the CRTC puts a cap on this, and makes recommendations to encourage more competition. I would also like to see some way of ensuring that consumers are protected from high mobile phone bills, eg. when they unknowingly roam or call long distance. (Companies should be required to interrupt services when they reach a consumer-chosen peak, and perhaps send an email or text when a service is near that peak.) Finally, customer care is not what it should be, both in terms of understanding the concerns as well as in response times. It is rare that one sees a company uphold the practice represented by the slogan "the customer is always right."
