Canadian internet provision is essentially an oligopoly - (http://www.economicsonline.co.uk/Business_economics/Oligopoly.html) - as are most, if not all, industries of any size in Canada. In the same shoddy manner this model serves us for cellular service, banking and insurance costs, and gasoline and energy services to name a few, internet service provision in Canada is expensive, technologically inferior compared to other countries, and customer service is worse than a non-issue. As long as the government and regulatory bodies maintain the roles and positions they do, consumers can expect only more of the same.
