Having lived and traveled abroad I find the internet rates in Canada to be very high. I suspect they are on average 30-60% higher than comparable services found elsewhere. I also find the available speeds are artificially suppressed to up-sell even more overpriced internet packages. On top of that, it seems the major service providers are very much inline with each others' prices and offerings which could suggest some price manipulation by the providers.With the push for online-everything, it would be beneficial and forward thinking to have some kind of regulation to curb prices and push for better service (speed and availability). Also it would be very beneficial to allow third-party service re-sellers greater access to mainline internet infrastructures which would bring costs down for all of us.
