It should be redundant for me to comment on the importance of the internet and it's use to both the business and private sector (both in present and future). The following are my personal opinions-We should not have a duopoly per region system and if we do, the price/quality should be regulated by the government. The prices seem to be artificially inflated as most countries' internet prices goes down as technology improves (or same price but increased bandwidth/upload). How it's the opposite in our country baffles me.-Private companies SHOULD profit but the amount should not be overly excessive. Since the prices seems to be negotiated between the 2 main providers per region you have to phone and negotiate to get better terms. Prices can drop from between $10-30(per month) depending on how well you can negotiate, basic utility services shouldn't have to depend on how well a person can negotiate. -Third party internet providers should get more power and a bigger voice, many people do not understand there are other options such as teksavvy. If they're more known, I'm sure big companies would lower their prices as competitive means. However, it would also mean that their services should not be disrupted by the big companies (such as purposely lowering bandwidth of third party users); many complaints I see online about third party providers are that their connections keep faltering (which shouldn't be the case as both them and big companies use the same lines).
